Chris Krones has been a children’s editor at HMH for more than ten years with a strong focus in Franchise publishing. She has edited everything from novelty board books to YA. She works with her team on building brands and rediscovering backlist gems to reintroduce them to the market in new formats. She is always on the lookout for board books and picture books that have strong innovative format potential with spare clever texts that can strike the right balance of sweet and humorous/punny. With middle grade, she’s developing IP series in-house that have strong commercial appeal—NEXT BEST JUNIOR CHEF, THE OREGON TRAIL CHOOSE YOUR OWN TRAIL books, and SURVIVOR DIARIES. With YA, it’s rare that she acquires, but if it is the right mix of witchy, inclusivity, and/or LGBTQA+ subject matter, it might be right for Chris.
